Building Relationships That Build Better Products

L Brands is committed to building relationships with organizations, businesses and people interested in improving product safety and quality. Our technical associates actively participate in key industry and professional organizations to assure that we have the latest scientific, regulatory and safety information on ingredients.

American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC)
AATCC is the world’s leading not-for-profit professional association for the textile, design, materials, processing and testing industries. It is internationally recognized for its standard methods of testing dyed and chemically treated fibers and fabrics to evaluate performance characteristics such as colorfastness, soil release, shrinkage and water resistance.

American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM)
ASTM is an internationally trusted source of technical standards for materials, products, systems and services.

Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA)
L Brands is a member of CSPA to support our efforts in the home fragrance and candles industries. In 2008, we committed to join the Product Care initiative, which means we go beyond regulations in health, safety and environmental stewardship for the lifecycle of our home fragrance products. We are in the process of developing our management principles as required by the program.

International Fragrance Association (IFRA)
IFRA focuses on the safety of fragrance materials through a dedicated science program. L Brands is an IFRA-affiliated company and complies with all IFRA Standards. IFRA Standards are based on the latest scientific findings and implemented following the recommendations of an independent Expert Panel that includes professionals from fields such as dermatology, toxicology, pathology, respiratory and environmental sciences.

Personal Care Products Council (PCPC)
L Brands is a member of PCPC and a signatory to their Code of Commitment. This code requires its members to go beyond regulatory requirements in providing assurances of product integrity. These include voluntary filings of raw material and formula information with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as tracking and reporting certain consumer adverse reaction reports. PCPC has created a resource website, www.cosmeticsinfo.org, to give consumers easy access to credible, scientifically based information about cosmetics and personal care products and the ingredients used in them. The site also links to other authoritative bodies and scientific research. At the cornerstone of PCPC’s safety initiatives is their Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), an independent, non-profit body of scientific and medical experts who assess the safety of cosmetic ingredients in the U.S. This expert panel supplements the FDA oversight of cosmetic safety.

Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM)
RIFM was formed in 1966 to gather and analyze scientific data, engage in testing and evaluation, distribute information, cooperate with official agencies and encourage uniform safety standards related to the use of fragrance ingredients.

Zero Discharge for Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)
L Brands is a member of the industry coalition called Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC).  This collaboration of leading apparel and footwear companies has released a joint roadmap towards zero discharge of targeted chemicals in the supply chain by 2020, which will establish a new global standard of environmental performance for the industry.
