United Way 2011: Changing lives. Strengthening communities.
November 23, 2011
Once again Limited Brands associates answered the call for support during the company’s 2011 United Way campaign, raising more than $9 million for United Way chapters in their home office communities. The 2011 campaign, which ran from Oct. 17 through Nov. 4, exceeded the company’s goal of $8.7 million.
“United Way is the social services safety net in our communities and it is more important than ever,” said Limited Brands Chairman and CEO, Les Wexner. “The United Way campaign is an opportunity to address the most important issues in our communities – human services, health, children and those in the greatest stress. This is critically important, and our collective support makes a significant difference.”
Since 1997 Limited Brands and its associates have raised more than $101 million for the United Way. Many associates give at the Leaders Circle level (ranging from .5 percent to 3 percent of their annual salaries), which are matched 100 percent by the company. All other United Way contributions are matched at 50 percent by the company.
Beyond financial gifts to the United Way, associates give of their time and talent through our community work days. In fact, in 2011 our executive leaders and associates donated more than 15,000 hours at agencies in our home office communities of Columbus and Kettering, Ohio; New York City; and Rio Rancho, N.M. During these days of service, associates roll up their sleeves and volunteer at United Way agencies, getting a first-hand look at their donations in action.
