Celebrating United Way: Columbus Community Care Day
September 22, 2011
Continuing their support of United Way, Columbus associates celebrated the community on Sept. 13 by lending a helping hand to two local non-profit organizations. As part of the annual Columbus Community Care Day, more than 100 associates offered their time to Camp Mary Orton and the St. Vincent Family Center.
Associates pitched in at Camp Mary Orton, tending to the grounds by mulching, general landscaping and painting. Camp Mary Orton, part of the Godman Guild, has been serving children and families for more than 100 years by providing activities and programs designed to promote economic growth, self-sufficiency, leadership among youth, employment training, nature appreciation and team development.
Additionally, more than 50 other associates spent their day at St. Vincent Family Center, where they helped paint therapy rooms and wheelchair ramps, cleaned and moved supplies and furniture and tidied up the playground. St. Vincent Family Center is a family service organization that develops children, strengthens families and sustains communities.
